Just steps from the surf at The Entrance North on the Central Coast, a newly built Hamptons-style home offered promise - but its outdoor spaces were still waiting to become the sanctuary its owners envisioned. We sat down with Jason Diamond, our Design and Managing Director, to talk through the inspiration, challenges, and poetic details behind crafting a resort-style escape that blurs the lines between vacation and everyday living.

A Hamptons-Inspired Sanctuary at The Entrance North
The Vision
Q: What was the inspiration for your client?
The clients - retired and ready to embrace a slower rhythm of life had recently completed their home within walking distance of the beach. Their personal style was immediately apparent in the interiors, but they longed for an exterior that captured that elusive Hamptons-meets-resort feel. They wanted to step into their backyard each morning and feel as though they had arrived at a holiday destination.
Q: Why did your clients want a renovation, pool, and outdoor living redesign? Who was going to use it?
The space needed to serve as their daily retreat a setting for morning coffee, reading the news, unwinding, and simply being. It also needed to function effortlessly for weekend family visits, casual beers in the afternoon sun, and moments of connection. The goal was serenity and practicality in equal measure.

Q: What motivated the clients to choose Luxury Pools & Outdoor Living for the project?
The clients were seeking a team who could translate their aesthetic sensibilities into a cohesive, high-end outdoor experience. They wanted a designer-builder who could guide them from concept to construction with confidence, craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of refined coastal design. Luxury Pools & Outdoor Living offered them that seamless, full-service approach - and the assurance that every detail would feel intentional.
Q: What was the end goal for the use of the space?
Wellness, relaxation, and effortless entertaining were at the heart of the brief. The clients dreamed of a sauna for restorative moments, a refreshing pool paired with a spa, and a visual connection to water from multiple vantage points. Most importantly, they wanted a space where family and friends would feel welcome, comfortable, and utterly at ease.
Q: If you could describe the feeling of the design in one sentence?
A timeless and relaxed coastal escape, effortlessly elegant yet completely livable.

The Design Process
Q: What were the key design features included in this project?
The hero of the design is the pool, which wraps gracefully around the cabana and incorporates two spill-over walls. The effect is sculptural, fluid, and immersive - water becomes both a visual and sensory anchor for the entire outdoor zone.
Q: What were the design challenges?
Privacy posed one of the biggest challenges given the proximity of neighbouring properties. The goal was to create seclusion without compromising openness or coastal breeziness.
Q: Was the site suitable for construction? If not, how did you navigate it?
As with any coastal build, sand presented its complications - particularly during excavation and in the need for structural shoring. However, with careful planning and experienced engineering, the team managed the conditions successfully.
Q: What inspired your design approach for this space?
The home itself - newly built with strong Hamptons design cues - set the foundation. We drew from those architectural themes and extended them outdoors, ensuring that the exterior felt as though it was always meant to be part of the original home.
Q: Were any innovative elements included?
Absolutely. The clients adore the sight and sound of water, so we created a pool and spa that wrap around the cabana. The challenge was crafting two separate bodies of water that appear as one unified, serene expanse - a technical and aesthetic puzzle that became a defining feature of the design.
Q: What additional spaces were added besides the pool?
The design includes a multi-purpose cabana for everyday lounging and entertaining, a year-round spa, a sauna dedicated to wellness, and an outdoor shower positioned near the sauna for comfort and convenience. A “man cave” shed was also incorporated - a practical haven for motorbikes, tools, and tinkering.

Q: How did the clients respond when you presented the renders and fly-through?
Their reaction was incredibly emotional. It truly took their breath away. They were overwhelmed - speechless, even. The design went beyond anything they had imagined, and they could not have been happier.
